For the last six months I had been going out most weeks with a Pub Quiz Team and trying our luck in and around the pubs of north London. We enjoyed a moderate success rate, I would say (without fear of contradiction) that we won 50% of the time.
I stopped going about two weeks ago. I had started to get a little bored with it and it just seemed time to bail out.
So the whole time I was in the team two of the girls were desperate to ‘bump’ into a well known celebrity who is known to frequent the pubs in Hampstead/Camden/Kentish Town. It wasn’t an obsession … just they did mention it most weeks. “I wonder if he’ll be there tonight?” “I read he has been banned for such and such for fighting” “He was spotted over there the other night.” I didn’t ask how they knew – apparently Twitter makes it way too easy to know where anyone may or may not be at any given time.
So last night finally (two weeks after I handed in my notice) their prayers were answered …
The thing with living in London is that you do actually see a lot of famous people out and about … and in the flesh they turn out to be just the same as everyone else.
